Martin Cannon is a Neurodivergent writer and filmmaker based in South Wales. His films have played at multiple BIFA and BAFTA accredited short film festivals. His short film Amusements was selected as The Smalls Film of the Month and was part of the BAFTA Cymru 2017 Young Filmmaker Programme. He was subsequently selected as a Writer/Director for the 2019/20 BAFTA Crew & BFI Network.

In 2020, his co-written comedy pilot Pleasure People aired on BBC Radio Wales. His latest short film, Collaboration, which was supported via an Arts Council of Wales writing grant, is slated for an upcoming online release.

Martin's work focuses on the uncanny in the everyday, often using comedy as a trojan horse to tackle strained relationships, often embedded in Welsh working-class life. He is currently developing a debut feature film as part of The Welsh Feature Writing Lab, led by Brynach Day with support from Ffilm Cymru.
